Paranormal Activity started as a great indie horror film that the public fell in love with. now there is a sequel that sucks, and paramount is making a third film which just looks disgusting. Its amazing that they can get away with basically re-releasing the same movie three times... night vision, cheesy camera tricks, and loud noises is apparently all horror needs for success anymore

The Thing
The remake of The Thing is coming out in two weeks and I have very mixed feelings about it. The 1982 John Carpenter film was amazing and,in my eyes, one of the best thrillers to date. The story is the same with all new character names, lets hope this isn't the only form of originality put into this remake. the first thing that scares me about this remake is the new director, Matthijs Van Heijningen jr. He has little experience, well more like none since he's only directed one short. I am all for bringing new directors into the scene, but I'm not sure about assigning one with a movie as classic as "The Thing". I doubt Matthijs hasn't had this much of a challenge since he learned to spell his name. Since I'm a fan of "The Thing" I am going to try and tell myself that since the director has no career, he's going to work his ass off and try to make a name for himself. My biggest concern is the writer, Eric Heisserer, who worked on the screen play. Eric is responsible for the horrifying excuses for "horror" films, Final Destination 5 and Nightmare on Elm Street, NOT the good Nightmare on Elm Street from the 80s, but the typical hollywood remake from last year. All in all The Thing could go either way, Universal could be producing it just to make some easy money, or actually trying to resurrect and pay tribute too the original film. I guess we'll find out in two weeks, keep your fingers crossed.
Final thought:
One thing is certain though, Joel Edgerton (the warrior) is certainly no Kurt Russell.
